That means we love our jobs even more right now because four 2017 Lexus models have earned the top safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Earning a Top Safety Pick+ rating is a big deal because cars that have this designation are considered to be among the safest automobiles in their respective classes.
Even though getting a TSP+ rating has always been challenging, it is even more difficult for 2017 models. In the past, automobiles had to get a score of “good” in five crashworthiness tests and earn a mark of “advanced” or “superior” for their front crash prevention systems. For the 2017 model year, the IIHS added another requirement for vehicles to earn the TSP+ designation. Now, cars also have to get a score of “acceptable” or “good” to receive the TSP+ rating.
